Twenty Reasons to Date a Writer

I can't take credit for this, and admittedly, it's a blatant ploy to post during a month when I'm on a deadline to get my pitches and blurbs ready for the M&M conference in NINE days. But it's very thought provoking. What do you think? Ever been that writer someone dated? married? How did it go?
  1. Writers will romance you with words.
  2. Writers will write about you.
  3. Writers will take you to interesting events.
  4. Writers will remind you that money doesn’t matter so much.
  5. Writers will acknowledge you and dedicate things to you.
  6. Writers will offer you an interesting perspective on things.
  7. Writers are smart.
  8. Writers are really passionate.
  9. Writers can think through their feelings.
  10. Writers enjoy their solitude.
  11. Writers are creative.
  12. Writers wear their hearts on their sleeves.
  13. Writers will teach you cool new words.
  14. Writers may be able to adjust their schedules for you.
  15. Writers can find 1000 ways to tell you why they like you.
  16. Writers communicate in a bunch of different ways.
  17. Writers can work from anywhere.
  18. Writers are surrounded by interesting people.
  19. Writers are easy to buy gifts for.
  20. Writers are sexy.

May Contain Nuts

One of the writers on our Scottish loop ran across this fantastic blog, May Contain Nuts. A Scottish poet and writer by the name of Michael Malone from Ayr, Scotland. I asked, where is Ayr? Here's the map. (I'm having trouble finding a bigger one.) Ayrshire is the parish in Scotland on the southwestern coast.

Nothing is sacred on his blog - parenting, travel, boobs...

As I've mentioned before, I love everything about Scotland. If it hadn't been for my husband, and it was touch and go then, I probably wouldn't hae come home from my trip there. I even got to sing the tavern closed in exchange for a bottle of Sheep Dip Scotch which sits on my sofa table to this day.

Ooops, slipped. Ach, but I loved Edinburgh, could hae slept in the streets in the drizzling rain.

The scenery looks beautiful.

So if you'd like to experience a little of Scotland, the language, the culture, visit Michael's blog and if you like fishing - looks like a great place for trout or salmon fishing.

If you'd like a taste of Michael's poetry, go here.
Enjoy!

Quote

If I had to give young writers advice, I would say don't listen to writers talking about writing or themselves.

Beautiful Website

My CP, Leah Braemel, has her website up, and you have just got to see it.

There's still some work to do but check it out, it's be - u -ti - ful. Check out her blog while you're at it. Leah has something for everyone, cool videos, pictures, lessons in Word. It's one of the most informative and entertaining blogs I've read.

Way to go, Leah!

I think I'll give your web designer, Rae Monet, a call.
