Too Good to Be True is just #99cents for now #RomCom #RS #smalltown

Too Good To Be True

Contemporary Small-town Romance (with suspense elements)

I've been in love with this hero since he first visited me. Some of you know I do a lot of writing in the tub. Well, Luc followed me there and told me his story. I had no idea until he started telling Del about his family that... well, that's a surprise.
Anyway, six of the books are available or on preorder now for just #99cents everywhere. I love my #nook, #Itunes and #Kobo readers as well as #kindle so run don't walk to your favorite store for this deal.
Blurb:
Love happens when, where, and with whom you least expect it. . .as Delilah discovers.
An experienced police officer, Delilah Burke is no pushover. She prides herself on her instincts but when she arrives at the scene of a convenience store robbery she finds herself unwillingly intrigued by the tall dark and handsome perp dressed in a mercenary uniform and armed with fake weapons which begs the question – what else about him is fake?
Luc seems too good to be true, but his huge, surprising family embraces Del and when he’s threatened they join in her efforts to protect him. Delilah is drawn to him like no other but can she keep him safe so they can have a future together?
Preorder book #2 and the rest – When the Right One Comes Along, Only the Heart Remembers and Christmas Wishes now for $0.99 until each book’s release day. (7 books in the series)
Excerpt
“All right, Luc. I understand you had an incident at your home yesterday. Why don’t you start from the beginning?”
“Not much to tell. I was headed to KPI for work…”
“That’s Knights Production, Inc. on Garnet?” Jed asked.
“Yes, I had a 8 a.m. shoot. I guess it was about 7:40 when I walked out and found my SUV with all four tires flat.”
Jed wrote in a small notebook. “Is that your Expedition out front with the US Navy tag?”
Luc answered him. “Yes.”
“I’ll get a complete description when I leave. So why didn’t you file a police report?”
“I didn’t realize at first that the tires had been punctured. I just figured some kids had come through and let the air out of them. I’d heard about the other incidents a couple weeks ago in the area. But by late morning, the tire center called and said they’d been cut.”
Jed took the name of the tire center. “I’ll run by there in the morning and see if they still have the tires. It would have been better if you’d called yesterday. Sometimes they haul the tires away at the end of each day.”
Luc anticipated Jed’s next question.
“Any idea who might have done this?” Jed studied him while Luc considered his answer.
Jed knows Del and I are involved and he’s wondering what I’m dragging her into, Luc thought. He answered honestly since he wasn’t willing to label Mercy a complete lunatic yet, “I really don’t.”
“Made any enemies lately? Kicked any kids out of the gym? Crawled out of your neighbor’s wife’s window? Anything like that?”
“Jed—” Del nearly punched her partner on the arm but Luc knew it was a tactic they used sometimes. Most people weren’t a hundred percent straight with cops for whatever reason. Present company included.
“Look, I really thought it was kids. You know hazing rituals or something.”
“Anything happen over the weekend that might have precipitated this?”
Luc looked at Delilah, who looked at Jed, who shook his head and snapped his notebook shut and let out a frustrated breath. “All right. Give me the number for your insurance agent and the guy you spoke to at the tire center and I’ll let you know what we find. Probably won’t do any good now, but I’m going to see if I can lift some fingerprints.” He nodded at Del. “She knows where to get me if you think of anything.” The door clicked shut behind him.
Luc and Del blew out a breath at the same time. Laughing, Del said, “I feel like I’ve been sneaking out and my big brother just caught me.”
Luc walked toward her, backing her up to the door. He was close enough to see the darker rim around her blue irises. She was so pretty. “Well, like they say, might as well be shot for the deed as accused of it.” When she saw his aim, she turned her head to the side.
So Luc kissed the corners of her eyes, her temples, heard her intake of breath as she turned back to him prepared to reprimand him. But as he settled his lips over hers, coaxing, tasting, then invading, she opened for him. His body melded to hers as he took her head between his hands gently holding it so he could savor the silk of her mouth. Rocking back on his heels he smoothed her hair back in place wondering at the intensity of his feelings. So quickly…I just about love you.
Twin bluebonnets searched his as if she didn’t quite know what to think. A smile slid up one side exposing a dimple. “Don’t you have a basketball game to get to?” she asked.
Luc stepped back, adjusting his jeans, “Yeah, and I’m gonna need a minute.”
She laughed, put her hand on the doorknob.
“You’re staying for the game, aren’t you?”
Delilah’s expression showed none of the passion that had been there just minutes before. “I’m on call until ten but as long as I’m not needed, I’ll stick around. I haven’t seen my brother play basketball since…”
She didn’t have to finish. Then she looked up. “That’s why you never asked me about my family. You know Tommy.”
“That and I figured you’d tell me about your family when you wanted to.”
Her eyes dragged from his face to the bulge behind his zipper. “Ready?” She flashed him a wide-eyed look.
“Quit.”
She laughed, opened the door and walked out.

Don't wait!! Last day for Destiny #series #sale on Amazon #excerpt

Yep, today is the last day on Kindle Countdown though the books will be free on Kindle Unlimited through June. Check the series out here.

See excerpt below:

Readers say...

This author hasn’t failed me yet! Another home run!
I am not really an advocate of book that continues into the next installment but I am making an exception for this series.
This part continues the story of Tempe and her search for her brother with the new sheriff and other exciting/odd characters of Destiny. More characters add to the mix and they encounter some answers to questions and some new developments.
The book is non-stop and keeps you moving, I didn’t want to put it down.

I don’t really like books that continue into the next installment but I am making an exception for this series.

This was a great book! I didn’t want it to end. Once you enter the world of Destiny, with all its interesting Paramortal characters, you will never want to leave. I loved the main character, Tempest Pomeroy, who is a tempestaerie, a storm witch, trying to find out about her family as she solves the disappearance of her brother with the help of new sheriff in town Jack (laser) Lang. The author does a terrific job of capturing the southern Louisiana coulture. This book delivers the perfect combination of suspense and fantasy with romance. Can’t wait for the next one!

Book two picks up from the moment book one ends and I liked that. It’s a continuation of the same story. River is still missing and time is running out. Sheriff Jack just found out who Tempest (and many of her friends/family) is. Whoa, paramortals! Though to be fair, Jack doesn’t have much time to adjust to this news.

“You in or out?” asks Dylan (who changed into a big bear-like creature before Jack’s eyes).

Jack’s in and the more he finds out, the more he falls in love with Tempest. He wants to protect her and help her find River before it’s too late.

This is one roller coaster ride of a book! The author does a fantastic job weaving romance and action; I couldn’t read fast enough. I loved the characters and the plot was riveting. One bombshell after another hits Tempest and Jack but instead of driving them apart, it draws them closer together.

What will happen? There’s a new character that appears at the very end and I can’t tell you more other to say my mouth dropped at her showing up.
I read this book in one sitting and started reading book three right away. You must read the books in order.

Gripping action, complex characters and a plot that wouldn’t let me go, Cry Me a River is a must-read! Onto book three…

Favorite Character:
Jack. I loved how he didn’t abandon Tempest in her moment of crisis. I mean, I wouldn’t have blamed him if he did. What man would stick around after a woman threw bolts of lightning very near his crotch. *giggles* Jack is an honorable man and even though he’s in over his head, he’s falling in love with Tempest. She’s his storm witch and when the two of them get together, it blasts them both into outer space.

Favorite Quote:
“Sweetheart, are you okay?” Call me crazy, but it seemed I could feel her body vibrating from three feet away. ~ Jack

My Rating: 5+ stars

Need a vacation from the real world, yet stay here on earth? Read this series. You will find suspense, romance and humor while setting on the edge of you seat wondering what's going to happen next. I highly recommend these books. I don't normally read books that are based on fantasy but love Livia Quinn's books so gave this one a try. So glad I did! I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a hot guy with a heart of gold. It has a cast of characters who will keep you entertained and also keeps you guess as to what has happened to the missing River. On to the next book in this series I go.

I love books with quirky characters and this one's stuffed full with them. I wish my town was a little more like Destiny, Louisiana. When a book has me sitting in a Dr' s waiting room laughing to my self, panting as I fan my face, then biting my nails in suspense it covers all my list of requirements for a great book. Usually I m not a great fan of cliffhangers, but this author writes meaty books, this one was over 300 pages, and the second book in this series was published quickly after so I'm not afraid of a long wait for other books.

ok, I am hooked! I am so ready to know the rest of the story from this series. There is so much hope and underlying romantic tension. Give me, give me, give me some more!!!

Excerpt from Storm Crazy.

Tempe
I sensed Dylan’s potent aura before I heard the heels of his boots thunk against the hardwood floor, then his shadow fell across me. With a slight tilt of my head I saw black hair wet with rain combed away from his beautifully dangerous face, his lips a mere breath from mine, so close I could see each stubbled hair on his cheek; the eyes I knew to be a rich forest green, were obsidian, wild.
Blast those pesky pheromones! My body was begging me to jump him, the memories of our limbs entwined in a hot morning caress making it nearly impossible to maintain a facade of irritation. And he knew it.
“Dylan.” I pushed the glass away.
His lips crooked up at the corner and he relaxed, flopping onto the nearest barstool. He looked me over, refrained from commenting on my messy appearance. “You look stressed. I was going to buy you a drink, but it looks like you’ve had one.” His brow arched at the sight of the shot glass.
I returned his perusal, raking over the black duster where moisture steamed off that big hard body. The only obvious break in color was the shiny gold badge on the black id wallet visible between the leather lapels. He was dark and dangerous, and once again I felt the sensual pull. I rubbed my forehead, willing those thoughts away.
“What did you want to talk to me about, Persephone?”
“That’s it! Just once, could you call me by my friggin’ name?” I pushed off the stool and turned on him, fisting clumps of my hair.
He sat back, looked at me closely. “Talk to me. What’s going on,” he said.
“I need a favor, Inspector.”
He slid off his stool, motioning the bartender away with a look. “I think you’ve had enough.”
I turned on him, “Who died and made you the keeper of me?” And then I remembered what I’d learned, and a sob escaped my throat. I turned away. Get a grip. I signaled the bartender to bring me a tonic water, and felt Dylan’s hand squeeze my shoulder gently. I didn’t mean to let him, but it felt so…comforting.
“Bad day?” His voice was a calming purr. “Bad week,” he corrected. He could be so sweet. I hated that I remembered that about him, too. “I’m sorry I was late. I’ve been on a job in Baton Rouge.”  He stroked a length of my hair behind my ear.
I could have easily allowed him to shoulder my troubles. Fix everything. No, that was tequila thinking. I didn’t need the betraying bastard to fix anything for me. “I’ve changed my mind. I don’t need you.”
I think he winced, but my vision was suspect.
“Come on, you need to call it a day.” He got up towering over me.
I slid off the stool, swaying just a smidgen. I was sure he didn’t notice, but then his hand settled on my hip steering me between the other stools and patrons into the fresh rain-washed night. I tripped on the uneven walkway of the porch and felt his hand on my elbow.
He said, “Tempe,” and turned me toward him. “Damn,” he muttered, looking off.
“Ah, so you do know my name,” I said.
“Look, I need to talk to you. Privately.”
I guess the dark night with only a few people coming and going from the parking lot wasn’t private enough. He led me around the side of the building. The comforting song of the rain frogs started up again as I propped myself against the outside wall. He placed both hands on either side of my head.
“This may not be the best time, but I need to say this.” His flippant manner was gone, replaced by frank sincerity. Whether he was deciding to continue or just weighing his words, I waited. He sounded different, almost humble. Huh.
“When I was on that job in Baton Rouge, I realized that I couldn’t let something happen before I got the chance to tell you…” he let out a deep breath. “…about what happened two years ago, I didn’t mean to hurt you. There were—are reasons why…”
I guess what he saw on my face he took for forgiveness, instead of shock. “Oh, hell.” His lips touched mine in a kiss reminiscent of those nights by the fire, touches drenched in desire, his body like hot steel…I groaned.
There was comfort in his kiss, and in the long overdue apology. The last few days had been a nightmare, with memories and revelations coming at me faster than I could assimilate them. Then my conversation with Aurora resurfaced. I flattened my hands on his chest. “Dylan, no.”
I heard boots hit the porch and pushed harder.

“Well, damn. Looks like I’ve come at a bad time.”

A don't pass it up #deal on @LiviaQuinn's Destiny Paramortals series

Yes! the entire series is on a Kindle countdown May 30- June 5th. If you've only picked up the first book in the series, now is the time to get the ones you've missed. It will be the only time you see all the books on sale at one time.

Books 1-5 are $0.99 this week and the newest release, Blood Moon is $2.99.

Get the links here. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C7WDLD9

Here's the taste of the series in the blurb from the first book.

Destiny – is it Mayberry or Middle Earth?  Welcome to Destiny where vampires, dragons, shifters and a family of Djinn live along side humans.

Ages ago a pact was made between all the supernatural species to protect weaker creatures and the humans. Just don't tell the humans.

My name is Tempest Pomeroy, and my human job is delivering the mail in Destiny, Louisiana. I’m also a Paramortal like my family, or I’m supposed to be. If I didn’t have a few little talents, I’d think I was adopted. It’s just two weeks until Mardi Gras, and I’m having a bad day. That’s like saying Katrina dropped a little rain on the Gulf Coast.

First, River’s amphora went missing—that’s genie bottle to you mere-mortals—and on my first delivery, a handsome scantily clad doctor triggered some sort of hallucination, with just a touch. Pheromones? Then, one of my customers had a stroke while reading me the riot act over a piece of mail, but I saved the old grouch with a zap of my Zeus juice! It was the first time I’d actually called my power on purpose, and Destiny’s hunky new sheriff almost saw me use my magic—big no-no—when he responded to the call.

He showed up again when the local florist filed a complaint against me for dropping a seventy-five pound box on his foot. Yeah, I did it, but it was kind of an accident. He put his hand where it didn’t belong and my fingers… sorta... slipped.

Then, if you can believe it, things got worse. I discovered a dead body in the clubhouse and rescued my brother’s amphora from a locker, bashing it in with a Greg Norman wedge. And who showed up again? You guessed it.

I’ve denied my heritage for too long. Now, my brother is missing, my mother’s out of pocket as usual, and the sheriff and my ex-lover are squaring off like yard dogs staking a claim over a poodle. I am no one’s poodle. Is it any wonder I’m calling this the worst M.A.L.E day of my life? My friend Aurora says all the chaos is a sign of my quickening Tempestaerie power, and more changes are on the wind.

Oh, and the sheriff? He thought he’d settled in a normal small safe town to raise his teenage daughter—like Mayberry?! We’ll see how that turns out… Things better settle down soon, or our former Navy pilot sheriff is going to take the first F-18 out of Middle Earth

Enter Destiny. You won't want to leave.

Warning: If you’re looking for standalones, the Destiny Paramortals series is not for you. This is a series with recurring characters on their Paramortal journey. They get their HEAs, but not in book 1. You’ll find dragons, sexy shifters, vampires, tempestaeries and djinn and other Paramortals with surprises at every turn. Emotional, quirky and fun.

Read them in order.
Storm Crazy
Cry Me a River
Eve of Chaos
Blame it on the Moon
Take these Broken Wings
Blood Moon

Coming this winter, book 7, Destiny's Child (tentative title)

Thanks for reading. I hope you'll return to see what I'm up to. I have exciting news for later this year!!!

Footprints and Baby Steps #IARTG @LiviaQuinn #youcandothis

There's an analogy that's used to describe how writers should approach the marketing of their books. A single "Footprint" vs. many feetprints if you'll pardon the misnomer. But the analogy holds true and has a great deal of merit.

Late in 2011 I decided to self-publish after a series of weather mishaps that threatened to end my writing for good. That book, under a previous pen name ultimately became Undone. It was the right decision for me at the time and I'm not sorry I went that direction, even though there have been so many changes in the market since. I seem to always be at the end of a trend. ;)

So, I published my little book expecting big things... then pretty much walked away. Not on purpose; my business required my time more than ever, but honestly, I didn't know what I was doing. Finding one little book on Amazon is like finding a particular grain of sand on that beach.  I was learning about the footprint theory, and I learned a lot from that experience. In 2014 with more books under my belt, both partials and final drafts, I decided to restart my writing career. I started fresh with a new pen name, set a goal to publish three books before the Romance Novel Convention in July and three by the end of the year. I accomplished that goal and didn't see any reason why I couldn't continue at that pace for a couple years.

I made a small spreadsheet to brainstorm my prospective minimum and maximum word counts for the year (by month). It was an eye opener. It can be adjusted on the fly when you see something coming up like a two week trip, busy summer plans, or a heavy workload. It's a wonderful tool to encourage you when you think your writing isn't getting anywhere. When I convert my smaller total into books, I get two or three novels, one or two novellas, or a possibility of 3-5 books for the year with the minimum written.

I anticipated being able to follow my "maximum" guidelines but then it was like Tom Brokaw came on TV saying, "We interrupt this lofty writing plan to announce some major changes in your dayjob, your husband's health, and the hit to your writerly budget. Oh, and by the way, did you forget to factor in the maintenance of your published books? social media? promo? newsletters? new covers, formatting and uploading revised books and new books?  Add to that, scheduling of events and followup with readers and other authors?"

Boy, did I!  In 2015, I only published 4 books (the reason for that second column ;) It took seven months to write the first one but it got done.)

In December, I decided to remove my books from KDP select and put everything on Kobo, Nook, Itunes and ARe as well to widen my readership and hopefully increase sales. This took almost three months because there was constant correcting of files, pricing, descriptions, formats, links, "also by" pages... the list goes on.

By mid March my business was in FULL swing and I was again behind on book 5 of my paranormal series. So here I am having just put my newest book, Take These Broken Wings, up for preorder on those sites for September.

Once again I'm reminded that I can only do what I can do and have a semi-balanced life. Still the long range plan is to keep adding to that footprint. As of now, I have published eleven books. Hopefully, by the end of next next year, I'll be closer to twenty, but who knows? Life has a funny way of getting in the way.

Self-publishing is very hard work. You're the "man" no matter how things go. And if you're in it for the long haul, you just gotta keep plugging until you look over your shoulder and see a nice wide footprint.

Can you share your experience with publishing either traditional or self-publishing? Do you struggle to stay on track? I'm here to tell you - You CAN do this! Just don't give up.

Baby steps are better than no steps.
