Calloways of Rainbow Bayou Preorder books 1-4 now #99cents

It's exciting! After working hard on this series all year, the first four books now available for preorder on all eretailers. If you love Nora Roberts, Jill Shalvis, Robyn Carr or Marie Forcebooks, you'd like this small town family romance series. See links below each book or check out my Books2read page to see all my books and your favorite store links for each.

What is the first thing you think of when you see a rainbow?
Many things come to mind for me:
Hope – "somewhere over the rainbow"
Renewal – after the rain comes the rainbow
Second chances, new beginnings. In the Native American legends it stood for a kind of magical serendipity.

Rainbow Bayou was named for the colors its movement reflects in the local sky whether its a sunrise, blue sky or the storms the frequently roll through the Louisiana landscape.

The Callaway-Larue family novels are stories of life, love and community – of hope and second chances, and they reflect my belief that love happens out of the blue, when we least expect it, or want it.

I hope you enjoy the series which has been largely revised and rebranded with new content to reflect its true genre, a contemporary family romance series. This family knows about sacrifice, commitment and love. I hope you love them as much as I have when writing them.

Though the first four books have been revised and rebranded with new content and characters woven in. The last four which will be published by the end of the year are brand-new.

When the Right One Comes Along

Buffy Calloway is finally coming home.

Love happens when you least expect it even for these two professionals, one who doesn't have time for love and the other who has the benefit of an inherited prognosticator known as the Calloway Curl.
Former international model and photographer Lana Calloway is attending the DC romance convention to find the perfect model, the “one” whose face and body could make her new business venture a success. At a conference event she finds him – an unwilling and unlikely candidate. Turns out his appearance was a fluke, but the Calloways have a history of getting their man, or woman, and she doesn't intend to be the last.
Her prospect is a CEO  meeting with Congress about veterans issues; in other words, he’s got higher priorities than being a cover model. It will take creative measures to convince him that her goals could benefit his mission of making life better for wounded veterans, and oh, by the way, that they are meant to be together.

What is a hero? #NFLhonors Men of Honor by @LiviaQuinn #integrity #selfless

It's a big weekend in the Quinn household. Super Bowl LII,  NFL Honors and the release of my Men of Honor box set. (And by the way there are women of honor here, too!)

Growing up in DC as my daddy's tomboy, I went to many a Redskins or University of Maryland game. Football is in my blood. Now that I'm in Louisiana, my team is the Saints... but I've been thinking naturally about what a hero is lately.

Surrounded by so many veterans and law enforcement professionals, I've seen the values shared by these men and women - integrity, commitment, duty to country, community...and family - our larger global family.

One of the things I love to watch is the Man of the Year awards during the NFL Honors, which is on tonight on NBC, 7PM EST. It's of course cool to watch all the celebrities show up on the red carpet as well. Last year Hugh Jackman brought his hunky self along with Mark Walberg and so many others.

My idea of a real hero is someone like any of the men up for Man of the Year through their foundations and work in the community, none of them for their own personal glory or enrichment.

One of my favorite heroes:
Benjamin Watson, an ex-Saint with his organization One More partnered with the International Justice Mission (IJM), the world's largest international anti-slavery organization working to combat human trafficking, modern day slavery and other forms of violence against the poor, the Watsons joined the global fight to end the scourge of sex trafficking. This effort was highlighted in April during a three-day trip to Lebanon, where Benjamin witnessed firsthand the Middle East's refugee crisis. Additionally, he and his wife, Kirsten, traveled to the Dominican Republic in June to begin formulating plans that combat sex trafficking.

What I love about Benjamin, in these days of people using the Flag demonstrations to be down on the NFL, is that he uses his platform to create dialog between all groups and individuals he speaks too - to bridge the divides.

J.J. Watt, the popular Houston Oiler and former Offensive player of the year who started a fundraiser in Houston after Hurricane Harvey hoping to raise $200,000. He raised $33 million!! All this when the team had suffered depressing losses, his own and their super QB's season ending injuries. It raised the spirits of the Houston people, and once again his motivation wasn't seen as heroic by him, just something he was moved to do for his community.

All of these Man of the Year nominees are deserving of the title hero and yet none would call themselves that. Isn't that the definition of heroic? Someone who puts others before their own needs.

In researching my Men of Honor books I'm constantly confronted with this mentality by our military personnel, past and present as well as my local law enforcement. They not only don't want thanks or glory, they resist it.

Some of the most courageous heroes this year are women. Do you know of heroes in your own sphere? They are everywhere. Let's give them some love.

My books are available on all stores. You can purchase Men of Honor here.

#Whatmakesahero #Veterans day is the perfect time to recommit to our #soldiers and their families. #IARTG #MFRWauthor

PictureMy dad in China Burma Campaign I saw a twitter post about a BBC project with the tag #whatmakesahero.

The video called "What Makes a Hero" by veterans and produced by the BBC is here. As you'll see, there are some  military men and women who are uncomfortable being called heroes. It's complicated, for them and for those of us who didn't choose to, or were unable to, serve.
I need to say thank you to men and women I admire, who have the qualities and courage to put themselves between me and someone who’s intention it is to harm me or my country, even if they feel like they're just doing their job. I feel the same way about firefighters, law enforcement, and social service personnel.

The most important thing this Veterans Day, is to re-commit to donate our time, efforts or funds to making sure these dedicated men and women have a rich normal life, like we all deserve, when they come home, and for their families while they are serving.

As the veteran Senator said on the video, "We don't want parades and celebrations, we just want someone to give us an opportunity when we get home."

There are so many ways to help.
  • Be there for a veteran or family member when they need it.
  • Write your congressmen about issues involving veterans.
  • Donate money or time to organizations that make a difference. You may know of some, if not, there’s a partial list on my          Vet Links page

IF YOU ARE A VETERAN and know of an organization that works, please leave a link or the name in the comments so others can benefit.

This month all sales from Her First Knight go to veterans charities.

In my fictional contemporary romance, the Under-Cover Knights series, Knights Production Inc. is a studio where images and videos are produced for use on book covers, ads, media campaigns and where the actors and models might even be used as movie extras. One of the owners of KPI, Ridge Romano, was responsible for the creation of a consortium of private companies that’s taking over the care of veterans. Ridge has made it part of their mission at KPI to hire vets and other men and women of integrity and service. They are not only former military but their regard for and dedication to humanity is intrinsic to their everyday lives.

So far we’ve met Luc Larue in Hard Days Knight, who is not only a veteran but whose teencenter in Larue is changing the lives of disadvantaged youth, and Ridge, from Her First Knight.

Let’s make a difference this year. The need is greater than ever.
